Mighty Quinn

In New York we have a local legend....He goes by the name of Mighty Quinn. In the New York Daily News everyday we are given his best bet for the day and a local story about true New Yorkers,Policeman,Fireman and the people who are at the heart of this great city.Mighty has been a friend for years and has always supported any charity event that I've ever been involved with. I just wanted to take a second and return the favor by letting anyone who comes across this article know that....."Mighty,You are one of the Good Guys......Salude"!

America

America is the greatest country on earth. We have given the world so much and asked little in return. I'll never understand the hatred for a country that has done so much for so many. This is Me and Earl he is an immigrant from Trinidad waiting to become a citizen and a great friend. We both come from humble beginnings, life has been a long bumpy road for us both but we are still smiling... America has given us opportunity to do our thing....that is all you can ask for.

Walker and Jus Bus meet

(Me) Walker and producer Jus Bus who did "It's never too late" with Trevor Off-Key and Alison Hinds will meet tonight for the first time. It is not the first time I've worked with talent that I have never met, my introduction to Soca was a blind duet with Machel Montano, we didn't meet until 3 months after our first collaboration.....that worked out fine. I'm looking forward to meeting Jus. He is, in my opinion, the most original producer in music right now. He has relocated to NYC and I suggest all of my musical friends and contemporaries give his music a listen.

A Reason to Believe

My inactivity has forced me to evaluate my career. My initial feeling was wow,I've accomplished nothing and I've really never recorded any music the way I've heard it in my head over the years. I've clung to things and gone through the motions of a performer in order to anesthetize my absence of expression....Then I thought.....Gary has it wrapped in a little package for everyone......I guess it's time to lock myself in a room and keep on fooling myself....and with the grace of God...someone else.

Musicians Wanted

Well, I'm looking to put together a band that wants to do original material....Rock/R+B/Soca/Reggae anything that has cement grooves and can move people. The musicians from the past Brotherhood of the Grape bands are all involved in new and exciting projects...Symptom 7,Ace in the Hole,Drexler..etc...I'm not ready to start pimping myself out to cover bands to make money...so if you have guts and drive....let's go....and let your soul glow.

The setting sun

The sun sets on my music. I used to pour wine into my head with blank men, failed men who remained unafraid in the dirty side streets of New York City......Now I'm just a colorless cut out of my potential......I think I'll vanish for a while....into Hemingway,Fante,Bukowski and a few hundred trips to the Racetrack....you can keep it...whatever the hell it is.

Nova

I was watching T.V. last night and saw a documentary on The Planet of the Apes. I was a huge fan when I was a kid.....and man did I have a crush on actress Linda Harrison......I guess I still do...I'm writing about it.....can you blame me?

Mugger,Fred and Charlie

"We are all here to go"...... and some, way too soon. This year we lost my cousin John "Mugger" Hornung and Fred Stelloh...who were two of the best guys in the whole world. They both we're icons in H.B. and their goodness and charity will be missed severely.....It is hard to imagine performing and not seeing one of them in the audience....they both we're the best kind of friend a guy could have....Charlie Munga (who died a few years back)...must have been lonely..Somewhere there are a bunch of classic cars being repaired and driven fast with "Metal" on the radio's cranked to 11!

42nd street and Broadway

Here are a few pics from the NYC film award show in Times Square. Vinnie Stigma from Agnostic Front was on hand to give me my award for best original song in a feature film. I performed with Mike D and it was a good get together. Thaddeus got his award too. In spite of all this good stuff, I feel nuttier than squirrel shit.

Old magic still strong

Machel is the ring leader of this circus....I'm glad I can still get on the high wire! It seems like the time is right for something new from the 2 of us....12,000 people can't be wrong...Machel's music is true underground alt-music.....don't get mad at yourself because you thought the Strokes were doing something new.....someday you will get it....like the NYU student who just put up the Marley poster!

Los Angeles Film Fest

L.A. film fest and the West coast showing of "Love like Blood"................so much happened in a short amount of time. Dick Van Dyke was a gentleman and it seems that Thaddeus and I were what Willis was talking about!

Soca Saved My Life

"Soca and Me" is a collection of some of the Soca music I've made over the past ten years. When I first did "With or Without You" with the multi-talented king of Soca Machel Montano...I had just been let go from my Rock record company.I went to Trinidad that year and Machel and Xtatik allowed me to perform with them. The music, energy and love of the Caribbean music fan gave me the inspiration to get back into the studio and form The Brotherhood of the Grape. This Saturday I'll be performing with Machel @ 6 flags N.J. it has been almost 10 years to the day since we first sang the song in Trinidad and enjoyed a Stag beer @ Smokey and Bunty after the show. Machel has given me opportunities beyond my dreams and I've said it before i'll say it again............Trinidad....you are blessed.

Loser Wins!

I'm going to perform some of my songs at the New York Independent Film and Video Festival Award night. I'm glad to have won, but what I'm really happy about is being able to sing at the show. I have come to realize awards, money and recognition are all nice but only a live audience moves me to write, sing and complain............I hope when the day comes...that I die mid song........Thaddeus and I should get awards for pretending to be bartenders from Howard Beach for all those years.....all my best to you Thad-Rock!

Zabrocki is Polish for "Really good guitarist"

Ron Zabrocki has been the most important musician in my career, He has recorded and performed live and onstage with every project I have ever been apart of(except for the Soca). His friendship and knowledge enabled me to produce music in the darkest time of my life. He is going to come out this weekend to the Rail and Jam. He has been a great friend to many musicians throughout the years....come and hear his wizardry and have 3 fingers of vodka neat.

It's never too late for Carnival

I have a new Soca track coming out tomorrow. It is my first one in a long time. Timbaland's track Socatized by Jusbus. I got to sing once again with the incredibly talented and beautiful Alison Hinds. The track also features newcomer Trevor. Jusbus is an amazing new producer who is making some big waves in Caribbean music. I love Soca music.....it lets me have fun through song like I used to.... cheers to the whole Soca nation !!!!!
