The Q.B.A gets Jazzy with Terry!
This is Terry Reid! This man made some of the greatest recordings I have ever heard. Recently in Piermont N.Y. The Q.B.A (Queens Bar All-Stars) and me ran into the underground music legend himself. I traded stories and the Q.B.A traded whiskey! Do yourself a favor and pick up "Seed of Memory" or "Bang Bang" and hear what real Rock and Soul singers sound like!

The Last Soca Show
I really had a great time performing in the Caribbean. When the "New" New Yorkers were smoking the dirt they bought in Washington Square Park to accompany the Bob Marley greatest hits C.D they bought at Tower Records, I was living and performing with the best of Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. What luck I've had to share the stage with these bands and artist's. The last show I did in Trinidad was in July and the last in Brooklyn was at the Elite Ark. Here are some pictures from the show. This is part of Machel's Alternative Concept 3. I am releasing a collection of songs in December and then I will gracefully bow out. I want to sing songs for the lonely and generally dissatisfied and watch my kids grow.

Thad-Rock is King!
The Brotherhood of the Grape's pal and Queen's Bar All-Star Thaddeus Schneider is making his way to the bigtime. Thad-Rock's hard work has led him to a new role as a police officer in an upcoming T.V. pilot called "Skels". Thaddeus is playing the role of "John" 1 of 3 brothers in the New York based drama. The band wishes him luck and more success in the future. Thad-Rock and the Brotherhood go together like a dog and a summer side-walk! To view the "Skels" trailer and still photographs visit the link provided.

Q-South Original Demo Tape
This is the original Demo from Q-south released in 1991. I think 500 were made, not sure. The horrible art on the cover was drawn by the band. This demo was primitive, but brutal and features the best of what the band was and what was to come. It was a reaction to the state of music at the time and I think it still holds up. All of the songs made it to the debut C.D. in 97 but "The Spirit of Rain" and "Silent Enragement" are the same recordings. If you wish wake up old ghosts click here www.cdbaby.com/cd/qsouth

In 1976 I wrote my first tune "Gold in the City" with Joe "Skins"Brady. Joe took this photo on the left. Our first rehearsal was tough because we sucked, but we ended up playing a real gig at Fitzgerald's in Rockaway Beach 1984. Joe"Skins"Brady is on the kit in the picture on the right the band was called Wire! Joe now plays on Broadway, I play with myself!

Solo or So Low?
The shows in October were great especially in Philadelphia at Grape Street (with Ang & Ris and their truely beautiful music) www.grapestreetpub.com. I ran into WXPN program director Dan Reed, www.xpn.org stand up cat.I met Frank Moore(Producer) and Philadelphia musician John Francis www.johnfrancismusic.com in front of Grape Street 2 guys who seem to be going in a good direction. Thanks for the song requests. The chair is comfortable and I'm smiling because I know that we are all here to Go (the existentialist nightmare = death the great equalizer) I'm not here for a long time, I'm here for a good time! ............ ahhh what can you do?

Nobody's (and now we all are)
I found this ticket from the early 90's. Some guy left me a message about the club and I dug this up.This is for the original 200 people who followed us everywhere we went. I know, I wouldn't be able to still make music if I didn't have the support of the original Q-South audience. Now let's see what the fuck we can do with the future!

It's Hank!
I've been asked at the website a shitload of times "Who is that introducing the band before the song Kiss It Up to God on The One and Lonely C.D."? It is the same person who speaks after The Great Goodbye, Mr. Henry Charles Bukowski! Both Bukowski and Fante(The Brotherhood of the Grape,Ask the Dust) have influenced my music. I suggest reading them both........If you have the nuts. Literature, like film is filled with people praised for mediocrity so when you encounter something with true genius it becomes consuming. Bukowski writes the most beautiful poetry I've ever read. He is notorious for his bottle tilting, but that has nothing to do with the blunt, magically poignant lines he has put to paper. Liking Bukowski for his drinking is equivalent to liking Dali for his moustache.

Ron Zabrocki
I've been lucky to have worked with Ron Zabrocki for the past 15 years. He has performed, produced and critiqued my music and help me accomplish things that I would not have been able to do on my own. His guitar playing is un-matched and he is an all-around great producer. Both Ron and his wife Lori design and record C.D.'s from start to finish. Ron formerly of Ozone Park is now in Connecticut, If you are looking to make a record stop by www.zabrockidigital.com

Machel Montano,Xtatik and Walker
Soca music has been great to me over the years. I have worked with some of the most talented people involved in it. Machel Montano will eventually take Soca everywhere and become a house hold name in countries all over the world. Bunji Garlin,Alison Hinds, (Producer) Brent Toussaint,(D.J. & Artist) Envy,Iwer George,3 Suns and a list is to long to finish. Do yourself a favor buy some Soca music. Trinidad is a magical place, They have statues dedicated to musicians instead of soldiers. The last melodic instrument(Steel Pan) was invented in the Dock-yards. I am happy to have been a part of it all. Visit www.xtatik.com or www.bunjigarlin.com or you can see it on DVD Machel and Xtaik (with Sparrow, Rose and Me(walker) www.islandmix.com/rumshop/product_info.php?cpath=28&products_id=112&osCsid=75a3212cdaca54de2e4da2e2950751de I have a compilation of Soca C.D. coming out In November with some new tunes and the original Rock/Soca tunes. I will start a new Brotherhood of the Grape C.D. in January 2006. My days in Soca are most likely over, I'm looking down the road, but I give love and respect to all the Caribbean artist and mostly Trinidad and Tobago!

Ed "Ace" Klinger
Eddie "Ace" Klinger is an all-around monster. Drummer, songwriter and producer. I began writing songs with Eddie in the late 80's and even "The One and Lonely" features Good Grief a song we wrote back in the day. Eddie has played on most of the music The Brotherhood has put out, but he is known for his bacchanalian drumming from the days of Q-South. Eddie is currently performing with several artist most notably An Albatross the Space-Punk pioneers!

Soca For Summer Live July 2005 From Queens Park Savannah Trinidad and Tobago!
Soca for Summer. Here is another first in Soca music. Iwer George held a concert in the Queens Park Savannah in Trinidad in July, far from Carnival season. I sang with Machel(on right) and performed (I like to move it) with Mad Stuntman(on left). Soca artists were out in full force. Xtatik was on fire! Iwer really proved the music is more than seasonal.

Q-SOUTH
The 90's were a great time to be a musician, I still get comments from people all over about Q-South. I can say everybody from the band is doing well. The odds of a Q-South reunion are slim, but I have been looking through old tape and thinking about a compilation Live C.D. with unreleased material. Thank you to everybody who made New York a great place for music, On any weekend you could walk into a joint and hear Q-South,Jeff Buckley,Jak Tweed,Govt Mule,Blues Traveler to many to name...........There is a bus from The Wetlands in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, It is the closest alot of the bands will ever get, but our stickers are on it and the music we all made then still holds up today!

WXPN in PHILADELPIA !
There is nothing happening in New York. Brooklyn is even funnier. The New York scene is made up mostly of kids from out-of-town who watched too many 80's video's. Coney Island is almost unrecognizable, and the re-hashed Punk and New Wave thing is weaker than clock radio speakers.I am not intimidated by a kid in eyeliner. In fact, I feel tougher. The city of Philadelphia on the other hand is developing a music scene alive with boundry pushing artist. An Albatross,Algebra of Need,Sara Drive and many more Pennsylvania bands are doing things The New Brooklyn couldn't fathom wrapped up in their mock poverty. If you want to see a band in Brooklyn, show some nuts and visit the Elite Ark on Pennslyvania Ave off Linden Blvd and you will hear cutting edge world music(Soca,Dance Hall) not "A Flock of Seagulls (Light)" CBGB's should close. The original idea of the place was an alternate to the stuffy village joints, now it is as cool as Journey(and we know the owner never spent dime one on the bathrooms) Philadelphia on the other hand has Grape Street www.grapestreet.com and The World Cafe www.worldcafe.org where both folk and alt-rock artists can perform to an audience that actually wants to hear music. New York radio is horrible. Rock radio plays Corn or whatever crud is being churned out, and the Folk Mafia won't play anything that isn't sensitive or a Tori Amos knock-off.New York's pirate stations are taking some chances though. WXPN in Philadelphia www.xpn.org is fantastic the D.J's Dan Reed,Helen Leicht and Matt Reilly have taste and guts. You can get the streaming version for free, do yourself a favor and give it a listen. It doesn't take a math teacher to understand the link between Radiohead,The Police,Sigur Ros and Bob Dylan. I was born in New York and have lived here all my life, I have never been more disappointed in this place . I know there is a kid in Ozone Park or The South Bronx who is plotting to take this great city back from the models, photographers, clothes designers, screenwriters and the people with expensive shoes and carefully ripped jeans.A small note to the people who now hang out down Lower East Side, "Junk" is king it was there before you and it will be there after you. If I sound bitter and out of touch, start sucking.
